After a controversial departure from the UFC, when he was fired from the organization accused of withholding a submission, Rousimar Toquinho resumes his career tonight (29). The Brazilian stars in the main fight of the ninth edition of the World Series of Fighting (WSOF). He faces Steve Carl for the welterweight belt on the show.
Toquinho, who has an MMA record of 15 wins and six losses, will make his second fight in the welterweight division. After moving down from the middleweight category, the athlete from Minas Gerais submitted Mike Pierce with a heel hook in just 31 seconds at UFC Fight Night 29, in Barueri, last October. Despite the great triumph, Dana White, president of the event, dismissed the Brazilian the following day, claiming that he had held back the submission too much and caused the injury to the North American. Now, Rousimar is trying to restart his career on the show chaired by Ray Sefo.
In turn, Carl has a professional record of 21 wins and three losses. Like the Brazilian, Steve's specialty is the ground game. The North American, who has seven victories in a row, finished 16 opponents in 24 appearances.
