Rousimar Toquinho is exuding confidence for his next fight. On March 29, he will face Steve Carl for the World Series of Fighting welterweight title, in Las Vegas, United States. With the possibility of winning a belt in his first fight after his dismissal from the UFC, the Brazilian believes that the North American's game matches his characteristics well.

In 24 fights in professional MMA, Carl won 21 victories, 16 of which were by submission. And it is precisely in the ground fight that Toquinho stands out, having already obtained 12 submissions in his 15 victories.

In an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”, the Team Nogueira fighter said he hoped the fight would take place on the ground. “Is he going to fight on the ground with me? I don't know, but I hope so. I don't think there's anything other than that he could do. His fights always end on the ground. It’s hard to say because I don’t know what he plans to do, but normally no one wants to take the fight to the ground against me,” he commented.

In his last fight, still for the UFC, against Mike Pierce, Toquinho made his debut in the welterweight category. Even though he won the fight quickly, with an ankle lock 31 seconds into the fight, the Brazilian said he is even better for the fight with Carl. “It was one of the best training sessions I’ve ever had. I trained everything, with great training partners. I have evolved in everything compared to my welterweight debut”, he compared.

Precisely because of all the controversy surrounding his departure from the UFC, Toquinho believes that the WSOF title would be the ideal reward for his work. “I'm ready for five rounds, but you never know how long the fight will last. I am well trained and confident, feeling strong. This is my weight class, this is where I do my best. I don't know how long the fight will last, but I hope to come away with victory. The title represents my rebirth as a fighter, but with more wisdom and intelligence. It will be one of the biggest awards I have ever received”, he hopes.
