Koscheck rules out retirement and says he will fulfill his current contract with the UFC

Coming from a negative streak, the veteran says he intends to rest for a while, but plans to have at least two more fights

Josh koscheck He's not having a good time in the UFC. The fighter, who challenged for the welterweight belt in 2010, accumulated three defeats in his last three fights and saw his future being questioned within the organization.

After his latest setback, against Tyron woodley, in November of last year, Koscheck sent a message that UFC president Dana White interpreted as a retirement announcement. However, the veteran says he still intends to fulfill the remainder of his contract with the organization, which covers two more fights.

“I have two more fights in my contract and I intend to do them. Then I'll see if I continue. I have an obligation to have two more fights in the UFC”, said Koscheck, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “ESPN”.

However, the 36-year-old fighter stated that he intends to spend some time away from competition. “I've been training my whole life, I've never had a break. I feel like I need to step away for a bit and take some time to enjoy life. But at this point, I will still come back,” he said. “They called me twice to give me a fight, and I said 'no' to the UFC. I’m not ready yet,” he signed off.

Koscheck was a member of the legendary inaugural season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter. Competing at middleweight, he reached the semi-finals, being eliminated by Diego Sanchez, who would become champion. However, the North American was taken advantage of by the UFC, where he has competed since then. In the biggest MMA organization on the planet, his record is 15 wins and eight losses.
