Without fighting in more than three years, undefeated prospect promises to win the UFC belt

After a long time away from the octagon, Tatiana Suarez talked about the complicated moments she experienced and said she will become champion of the strawweight division

Plagued by a sequence of injuries in recent years, the American Tatiana Suarez placeholder image He didn’t hide his excitement about his return to the Octagon. On the 'media day' of UFC Las Vegas 70, which takes place next Saturday (25), the undefeated athlete promised that she will win the strawweight belt (up to 52,2kg) and said that she will be a dominant champion in the division.

“I think I'm going to be champion. I can't wait to get the belt and then defend it as many times as possible. A lot of people like to focus on winning two belts and whatever, but I think it's really cool when you have a champion who is so dominant in their division, and they defend (the title) multiple times. I want to defend my belt several times before moving up to flyweight and doing it all over again,” said Tatiana.

The American talked about how she faced the long sequence of injuries and the time away from the octagon and reinforced how important the mental part was for her to stay strong and return to the UFC.

“It was definitely very frustrating. If I were focused on my frustrations, I would probably never get here. Regardless of my frustrations, I made sure to stay motivated and just remember that I want to be the best in the world and that I have to have that mindset whether life is going my way or not. Even after all those years I was rehabilitating my neck, it was a struggle every day, especially when you can't do what you love.”

Despite aiming for the strawweight belt, Suarez will make his return to the octagon in the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg). At UFC Vegas 70, the undefeated prospect will face off against Mountain Rose, on the main card of the event.

Considered one of Ultimate's biggest promises in recent years, Tatiana gained prominence by winning the twenty-third edition of the reality show 'The Ultimate Fighter'. Plagued by a series of injuries, the American has not stepped into the Octagon since June 2019. The 30-year-old fighter has an undefeated MMA record of eight wins.
