After publicly criticizing Ultimate for alleged poor promotion of UFC 284, which takes place this Saturday (11), Islam makhachev was answered by the boss. In an interview with ''The Jim Rome Show', Dana White raised the tone and rebutted the lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), denying the accusations. At the weekend, the Russian has a historic title defense against Alexander Volkanovsky.
“That’s not true (about possible bad promotion of the event). Firstly, I have been talking to Islam. Who was responsible for the interview? Who translated for him? He speaks Russian and may have taken it out of context. He lives in Dagestan (Russia). What does he know about what we are doing to promote the fight? He doesn’t know anything,” White shot back.
The UFC president continued with the arguments. According to the boss, the company is depositing the chips for the weekend's show and expects considerable figures from the show.
“It will be one of the five biggest fights of all time. The event is sold out, if you want to find a ticket in Perth (Australia). The show is in the spotlight at the moment, and is expected to be the biggest pay-per-view sale in Australia, which is 6% less than 'Conor McGregor x Dustin poirier 3'. He will probably break records. To say that he is not being promoted is ridiculous. That’s what I call internet bullshit”, he concluded.
At the weekend, Makhachev returns to the octagon and seeks success in his first title defense. To do this, the fighter needs to end Volkanovski's unbeaten run in the organization.
