Glover Teixeira retired in UFC 283, in Rio de Janeiro, right after losing to Jamahal hill for the light heavyweight title fight (up to 93kg). The decision to hang up the gloves, however, was not foreseen before the fight. After two weeks, the Brazilian admits that he made the decision after missing 'brutal training' in the final match.

“I had nothing planned. Sometimes I got frustrated in training because recovery is difficult. The way I'm used to training, that brutal training — and that's one thing I missed in this fight, being brutal with the takedowns. I had many opportunities. I was avoiding (his punches) early, but then he started throwing a lot of punches and cutting me. But I can still block some and fight back. I cut myself very easily – I'm like Nick Diaz e Nate diaz. But I lacked that aggressiveness”, said Glover in an interview with the podcast 'French Exchange'.

Despite being retired from MMA and satisfied with his career, Teixeira does not rule out having boxing experience in his future. The Brazilian cited Acelino Popó's victory over Whindersson Nunes and indicated that he may appear in some superfight for the sport in the future.

“I’m not going to stop training. If an opportunity for a fight comes up in the future, I'll do a little boxing — 'Popo' boxed Whindersson (Nunes), right? Maybe I'll fight a heavy guy, a celebrity, and move my body a little. Why not, man?” he concluded.

After the defeat in the title fight, Glover confirmed that he made his last appearance in mixed martial arts. At 43 years old, he declared that he was 'too strong for his health' and revealed happiness with the possibility of retiring with Mauritius Shogun, who also said goodbye to the sport at the same event. He ended his career with a record of 33 positive results and nine negative results.
