Submissions and knockouts drive Madureira fans crazy at Jungle Favela

In the main fight of the night, Brazilian Antônio Silva defeats Peruvian Jerry "Dragon Ball"

Jerry-and-Antonio-SilvaThe first edition of Jungle Favela, held on Saturday night (8), at Central Única de Favelas (Cufa), in Madureira, was a true success. Of the seven fights, only the last one went to the judges' decision. In the main fight of the night, Antônio Silva from Maranhão and Peruvian Jerry “Dragon Ball” had a very balanced fight, which ended up being won by the Brazilian, by split decision.

Jungle Favela's international duel was one of the most anticipated of the night. The rivalry between the two athletes spiced up the confrontation, which almost didn't happen the day before, at the weigh-in, after a tense confrontation. Despite this, the fight ended up leaving something to be desired. Jerry and Ceará studied each other during most of the rounds and insisted on grappling. In the end, the Brazilian flyweight (57kg) came out on top, by split decision. It is worth remembering that the Peruvian started the fight with two points less, as he was not over the weight allowed at the weigh-in.

If the main fight wasn't as pleasing, the same cannot be said about the duel between flyweights Marcus Vinícius “Cabecinha” and Paulinho Capoeira. The athletes climbed into the cage ready to put on a show, and they succeeded. Favorite and with the fans in favor, Cabecinha was better in the first round and bothered his rival with quick jabs and his exhaustive movement. However, in the second, he ended up surprised by the manauara, who connected a direct direct hit on his rival's chin, which went to the canvas. Despite this, the former title challenger left the arena applauded by the fans, in recognition of all the efforts made by the Mangueira fighter.

Ward of Thiago tavares draws attention

The most convincing victory in all of Jungle Favela was by a young debutant, just 20 years old. Gabriel Schlupp, pupil of the UFC athlete Thiago tavares, faced veteran Carlos “Capoeira”, aged 35. However, the experience was no match for Gabriel's talent and youth. Without being intimidated, the Santa Catarina native attacked his opponent and narrowly missed knocking him out in the first round. The victory would come in the next round, with a beautiful guillotine submission. The other representative of the Tavares Team, Luiz Antônio, was not as strong. He was dominated by Rodolfo “Coronel” and ended up knocked out in the second round.
