Creator of 'Power Slap', a 'slap in the face' league, Dana White is the new target of criticism and questions from fight fans. Renowned MMA referee, John Mccarty used his channel on Youtube to debate the event proposal, together with the commentator Josh thomson. On the agenda, the duo spoke about the risks that athletes expose themselves to.
“Without being able to defend my face. Without being able to defend your chin and you have a stick behind your back, you have to hold on, and then there are people holding athletes down when they get knocked out. They’re not doing a very good job,” John said.
For Josh, Dana is just focused on making a profit. The former fighter then accompanied the former referee in criticizing him.
“I'll say it the way I see it. Firstly, this is stupid. I think this is a fad. If you take a look at the numbers that were on TBS (the broadcaster responsible for broadcasting the event) you will understand what Dana White is doing. It had the same idea as The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). He did this because he brings a lot of numbers”, concluded Josh.

Recently opened, the event has brought controversy regarding the low pay of athletes. On social media, former UFC star Eric Spicely claimed to have received an offer of US$2 (approximately R$10) to participate in the show. If he won, he would be entitled to another U$2 bonus. So far, nothing has been officially disclosed regarding the payment of athletes.
According to the rules, each confrontation lasts 3 rounds and the first slap is drawn by 'heads or tails'. If no participant gives up or is knocked out, the judges present decide who will win.
