The UFC is working harder and harder to reinforce its brand on the European continent. After confirming holding another event in Germany, in Berlin, on May 31st, the North American organization announced an even bigger plan in the Old Continent for the coming months.
On July 19, 2014, the UFC will arrive in Ireland for the second time, with an event to be organized in the country's capital, Dublin. It will be Ultimate's return to the location after five years, when UFC 93 was held in the same city. In this ocasion, Dan Henderson beat Rich Franklin in the main fight, while Mauritius Shogun scored his first UFC victory by beating Mark Coleman.
Furthermore, in 2014, the UFC is expected to hold two more events in Europe. In an interview with the Swedish website “Kimura”, the European director of the UFC, Gary Cook, stated that the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, will host a night of fights on October 4th. This frustrates the plans of the city of Malmo, which planned to host the UFC in the last months of 2014.
Cook also confirmed that, next month, the UFC's European tour will conclude in Istanbul, Turkey, with an event to be held on October 22nd. It remains to be seen whether the event will take place in the European or Asian part of the city. Finally, in 2015, Ultimate plans to land in yet another new country, holding its first attraction in the capital of Scotland, Glasgow.
This weekend, the UFC will hold its first event in Europe in 2014. In London, England, UFC Fight Night 38 will take place, which will feature a light heavyweight fight as its main attraction. Alexander Gustafson and Jimi Manuwa.
