The TUF China Finale, which takes place this Saturday (1) in Macau, will no longer have a Brazilian on its card. This is because Alberto Mina, the only athlete in the country to perform at the event, ended up leaving the fight night after his opponent Zak Cummings was 3,6 kg over the category's weight limit. Cummings, who should have weighed up to 77,6 kg to qualify to fight as a welterweight, did not even appear at the official weigh-in this Friday (28).

Mina, from Paraíba living in Hong Kong, declared that he thought about accepting the fight, even with his opponent's failure to reach weight in the category, but rethought his position after talking to his team. “I considered fighting, but my coaches advised me against it. I can't go against them, or I wouldn't have a team. It's frustrating, but it was my coaches' decision. Fighting in Macau, representing Hong Kong, I've been waiting for this moment my whole life, but we're talking about eight pounds (3,6 kg). I’m very frustrated,” she said, in an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website.

Despite not participating in the event, Alberto received his scholarship and the bonus for winning for making weight. Cummings' failure to make weight was harshly criticized by president Dana White, who did not spare the TUF 17 participant. “It sucks when guys get here and don't make weight. They have one job: to prepare to fight, train and make weight. This is certainly a career killer,” said the manager, in a statement sent to the “MMA Junkie” website.

The rest of the night's fights were confirmed at the weigh-in, including the TUF final in the welterweight category and the main fight between Dong Hyun Kim and John Hathaway. Mina's fight was the second to leave the event card, which had already lost the decision of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter China in the featherweight category due to an injury.
