One of Brazil's highlights in MMA in recent years, the light heavyweight (up to 93kg) Johnny Walker assured that fans will see a 'new fighter' in the octagon of UFC 283, in Rio de Janeiro. On the 'media day' of the show that will take place next Saturday (21), the Brazilian athlete showed respect for Paul Craig, assured that he is ready to win in any area of the game and stated that, if the Scot falters, he will be finished.

“I've been watching his fights over the last few months. My whole camp was based on his game. I have good jiu-jitsu too. Whatever he does, I will counterattack. I'm ready. He's been facing guys who aren't experts in jiu-jitsu. I'm an expert in jiu-jitsu, but I'm not going to fight jiu-jitsu with him. I'm going to fight MMA. I'm sure my striking is at a higher level than his. I'm ready to face guys with high-level striking. I faced Jamahal (Hill) and I've improved a lot since then. If I faced Jamahal today, it would be different. It would be a mistake for him (Craig) to seek a stand-up fight against me. He will have to try to put me down, but it won't be easy either”, said a confident Johhny.
The Brazilian accused his rival of using provocations to try to destabilize him and said that if Craig gives a breakthrough, he will be defeated at his strongest point.
“I think he is trying to play a mind game to make me aggressive or nervous. I will make my strategy, no matter what he says. I'm going to stay calm and be like a 'sniper'. His fight is to take advantage of his opponents' aggressiveness to land submissions. I'm not going to play his game. I always look for a knockout or submission. I don't like leaving it in the hands of the judges. With each fight I become more mature, so I know where I can play. He specializes in jiu-jitsu, so I know what he's going to do. I'm an expert in jiu-jitsu too and if he goes soft I'll take home an arm or a neck”, concluded Walker.
Twelfth in the division ranking, Johnny recovered from two consecutive defeats with a submission over Ion cutelaba, last September. The Brazilian athlete has a record in the sport of 19 triumphs and seven setbacks.
