Second place in the UFC bantamweight ranking (up to 61,2kg), Ketlen Scallop saw a possible title fight become a little more distant after a narrow defeat in a split decision by the judges to Rachel Pennington on the main card of UFC Las Vegas 67, event held last Saturday (14). This decision generated outrage in Dedé Pederneiras, coach of “Fenômeno”.

Leader of Nova União and main mentor of Ketlen Scallop, Dedé Pederneiras expressed “revolt and frustration” in a social media post shortly after the fight. The trainer harshly criticized judge Mike Bell, one of the three responsible for judging the fight.

“We just got out of the Ketlen fight and were really pissed about the result, and then I asked for the slips and I see that a referee called Mike Bell gave the first round to Pennington, and then the only thing I can say is: GO TO TAKE IT IN THE CENTER OF C*. A guy like that can't referee even a button championship. How could he have seen the first round for Raquel? Today I return home with a feeling of frustration and anger!!!!”, said Dedé.

Target of criticism from Dedé Pederneiras, Michael Bell was the only one of the three judges responsible for the fight to score a victory of Rachel Pennington in the first round. The American emerged victorious after two of the three judges, Michael Bell and Derek Cleary, declared her the winner of two rounds.
