Ben Askren was not happy to see Patrick Cummins being hired by the UFC and immediately having one of the main fights of the 170th event, on February 22nd.

Cummins was called in at the last minute to replace Rashad evans, injured, in the fight against Daniel Cormier, in what is the second most important fight of the event. The American has an undefeated record after four victories, in addition to having a respectable resume in wrestling.

However, the level of his MMA opponents so far is questionable. His last opponent, Willie Smalls, has a record of five wins and 15 losses; the penultimate, Ricky Pulu, has never won and has already suffered three defeats. Tasi Edwards, his second rival, has only two wins and one defeat, while Terrell Brown has three victories and one setback.

Askren gave up his Bellator welterweight belt in an attempt to sign a contract with the UFC, but the organization's president, Dana White, showed no interest, reducing the fighter's undefeated record of 12 wins. Upon seeing the situation Cummins went through, Askren expressed his outrage at the Twitter.

In a message directed to Dana White, he wrote: “So that means I haven't faced anyone, but a guy who has a record of four wins and no losses, and his opponents together have nine wins and 19 losses, immediately receives a fight What is the co-main event?”, he complained. After receiving no response, Askren insisted: “The real reason is [Dana White] doesn't want a former Bellator champion to come to the UFC and prove he's the best. The fat, bald man’s ego is too big.”

After negotiations with the UFC failed, Askren signed with the Asian event One FC. His debut will be in May, fighting for the belt against Brock Larson or Nobutatsu Suzuki.
