If the duel between Anthony Pettis e José Aldo seemed right, the featherweight champion's knee injury could complicate Ultimate's plans. According to “UFC Tonight”, the official newspaper of Ultimate, Pettis will undergo a new evaluation next week and, if his return to the octagon is postponed once again, the organization will not be able to promote the fight against Aldo on July 5th, as initially programmed. Thus, the Brazilian would be forced to make one more featherweight title defense before the superfight against “Showtime”.

In December, Anthony Pettis underwent surgery on the posterior cruciate ligament of his left knee. The estimated recovery time was six months to nine months, but the initial expectation was that the lightweight champion would be able to return to the octagons within the minimum period of time. The next medical evaluation that Pettis will undergo will reveal the progress of the athlete's rehabilitation and define whether or not there is a possibility that he will return to training in the coming months and fight in July.
