Man is sentenced to more than 16 years in prison for murdering Raulian Paiva's girlfriend

Elber Nunes Zacheu was sentenced to 16 years and four months in prison after the murder of Tieli Alves, his girlfriend. Raulian paiva, UFC bantamweight fighter (up to 61,2 kg.). The sentence in the case, which took place in October 2018, also includes an attempted murder against the athlete and an attack on a man with a bottle.

The crime in question took place on January 21st. in Santana, Amapá. According to police reports, there was an argument after the accused harassed Raulian's girlfriend. The couple then argued with Elber and a friend, identified as Johny de Souza, and left the place on a motorcycle. While stopping at a red light, they were hit by a car.

Raulian ended up thrown, while Tieli was trapped and dragged by the car for another 20 meters. She was in the ICU (Intensive care unit) for six days, but he succumbed to his injuries. The two men tried to escape and were surrounded by the local population, who later burned the vehicle.

Elber has now been ordered to pay R$35 to the victim's family, Raulian paiva and a man who was reportedly hit with a bottle at the scene. Johny, who would be driving the car, must still go to trial in 2023.

Raulian paiva, 27 years old, has Tieli Alves as one of his great motivations to continue fighting and promised that he would continue in action for Tieli, who was one of his biggest supporters. The athlete, who was hired by Ultimate in 2019, has a record of 21 wins and five losses in his career in MMA.
