Rafael dos Anjos breaks UFC record in victory over Bryan Barberena

Former lightweight champion became the first fighter to break the 8h mark in the octagon and equaled Demian Maia as the Brazilian with the most fights in the organization

In addition to scoring the first victory by submission of Rafael dos Anjos since 2019, the triumph over Bryan barberena No. UFC Orlando, last Saturday (3), made the former lightweight champion reach two historic milestones in Ultimate.

With the submission at three minutes and 20 seconds of the second round, Rafael dos Anjos became the first fighter in UFC history to break the eight-hour mark inside the Octagon. The Brazilian surpassed the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) Frankie Edgar, who held the record with 7:57:10 in the cage.

Furthermore, upon entering action for the 33rd time in Ultimate, Rafael dos Anjos equaled to Demian Maia as the Brazilians with the most struggles in the organization.

Former lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos arrived has been in the UFC since 2008, when he debuted with a loss to Jeremy Stephens. Against Bryan barberena, last Saturday (3), the carioca reached its 21st victory in the organization, tying with Charles of the Bronx and just behind Demian Maia among Brazilians in the history of Ultimate.
