Willing to remain active in the organization, the Niteroi native has not stepped into the octagon since the epic battle against Khamzat Shimaev, in April. On that occasion, the Brazilian, together with the 'Ultimate bogeyman', starred in one of the most exciting clashes in the 2022 season.

Chosen to share the octagon with Gilbert, Neil Magny comes from victory in its recent trajectory. The athlete had already challenged the Niteroi native after beating Daniel Rodriguez, at the beginning of November.
