A knee injury forced lightweight Ross Pearson to withdraw from the UFC Fight Night 37 card, which takes place on March 8, in London (England). Pearson would face American Melvin Guillard on fight night. The Ultimate organization announced Michael Johnson as his replacement in combat.
The duel between Pearson and Guillard would be a rematch after the I didn't answer (fight without result) between them in the last English edition of the UFC, in October last year. For Johnson, the announcement represents the end, or at least the postponement, of plans to confront Khabib Nurmagomedov. In recent days, faced with the rejection of other opponents for a duel against Khabib, the American challenged the Russian a few times.
At 27, Michael Johnson has a record of 14 wins and eight losses. The TUF 12 runner-up comes from two victories, over Joe lauzon and Gleison Tibau. Melvin Guillard, 30 years old, has a record of 31 wins, 12 losses, two draws and two unsuccessful fights. “The Young Assassin”, as he is known, has been defeated four times in his last seven fights.
UFC Fight Night 37 takes place on March 8th, at O2 Arena, in London, England. In the main fight of the night, the former light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafson faces Englishman Jimi Manuwa. Check out the fights already confirmed for fight night below:
