Eighth placed in the lightweight rankings, the “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone is about to face Brazilian Adriano Martins, who debuted in Ultimate in November and still doesn't appear among the fifteen best in the 70 kg division. If many athletes don't see the difference in notoriety as a reason to underestimate the fighter on the other side of the octagon, for Cerrone things are a little different. In an interview with the website “Examiner”, the American revealed he has no idea who his opponent is and stated that fans can expect a beating in the duel, which takes place at UFC on FOX 10, on January 25th.
“I think he has good jiu-jitsu, but I have no idea who he is. We will fight and I will be ready. That's all I worry about. I don't care where he is in the rankings, or even if he is there or not. I'm going to go up to the octagon and destroy him. Fans can expect a beating. I'm going with everything for this fight, I'm ready to fight again for a title shot. I can't say what's happened to me lately. I think I felt comfortable financially and relaxed, I lost the hunger to win”, said Cerrone.
Regarding the financial problems mentioned, the “Cowboy” confessed that the crisis is very serious and was motivated by his lack of control over spending. “What happened was I spent all my money. I'm broke and I have no other option but to fight. I sent a message to Joe Silva (matchmakers of the UFC) asking for a fight as soon as possible. He asked if I would be available on January 25th and I said it was perfect. The truth is that I have no control over my spending. It's difficult to have money, want something and not buy it. I go there and buy it. I have no idea what saving is,” he concluded.
On January 25st, at United Center, in Chicago (USA), Donald Cerrone faces Brazilian Adriano Martins at UFC on FOX 10. The main fight of the night pits the former lightweight belt holder face to face Ben henderson and the former champion of the extinct Strikeforce Josh thomson. In the co-main event, valid for the heavyweight category, the Brazilian Gabriel Napao faces the North American Stipe Miocic.
