Apparently, the 'war of words' between Alexander Volkanovsky e Islam makhachev before the fight for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg) has already started. The Australian, who should step up to be a challenger, accused the Russian of not having signed a contract yet to face each other in the Ultimate octagon. The fight is speculated for the UFC 284, which takes place on February 12, 2023, in Australia.
“Are you a man of your word, Makhachev? Let's make it happen!”, wrote the featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.) in his 'Twitter' official.

The provocation did not go unnoticed by Makhachev. Lightweight king, the Russian didn't take long to respond, reassuring his potential opponent and stating that, as soon as he receives the contract clauses, he won't shy away from signing either. He still took advantage and 'poked' the Australian.
“As soon as I receive the paper, I will sign it. Don't worry. Take advantage of your position in the pound-for-pound rankings in the meantime,” replied Islam.
At 31, Makhachev made history in the UFC 280. Dominating his actions, the Russian overcame Do Bronx with a submission in the second round. In his career, there are 23 positive results and one negative.
