Matt Brown's return to the UFC octagon could happen sooner than expected. The American fighter, who suffered a back injury at the end of 2013, will not need to undergo surgery there, which opens up the possibility of returning to fight at the beginning of the second half of 2014.

The information was passed on by Brown's wife, Collen, to the North American website MMA Fighting. Brown was scheduled to face Carlos Condit in December, but was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury. Therefore, he will continue undergoing physiotherapy and hopes to be cleared to return to training in February.

Before the injury, “The Immortal”, as he is known, was going through the best phase of his UFC career. He has won his last six fights, including impressive knockouts over Mike Swick, Jordan Mein and Mike pyle.
