Vitor belfort He has already revealed a few times that he dreams of holding a title fight in a Brazilian football stadium. But if it depends on the UFC's plans for its duel against Chris Weidman for the middleweight title, the Brazilian will have to wait a little longer to fulfill his wish. According to Lorenzo Fertitta, CEO of the organization, in an interview with the website of the North American channel “ESPN”, Ultimate is working to ensure that the confrontation takes place in the United States.

Fertitta also revealed that the confrontation is projected to take place in May or July, depending on Weidman, possibly in Las Vegas – the stage for the organization's main fights. The possible dates announced by the director include two of the main Ultimate events on his calendar: “Memorial Day”, a North American holiday in honor of war veterans in the last week of May, and “Independence of the United States”, in the first week of July.

One of the main controversies surrounding the fight in Las Vegas is the hormone replacement treatment that Belfort has undergone in his last fights. Brazilians do not have authorization to use the TRT in the North American city. Approval requires evaluation by the local athletic commission and proof of its real need, as recently declared by the body's president Keith Kizer.

At 36, Vitor belfort has a record of 24 wins and ten losses. The Brazilian, former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion, has already challenged for the organization's middleweight belt, but ended up defeated by Anderson Silva in 2011. Already Chris Weidman, 29 years old, is undefeated in his career. The American has eleven victories as a professional and has held the middleweight belt since July last year, when he won Anderson Silva at UFC 162. On December 28th, Weidman beat Spider again, this time by technical knockout after a fracture suffered by the Brazilian, and retained his title.
