Robson Conceição's rival misses weight and loses boxing belts before clash this Friday

Surprise at the weigh-in for the boxing fight between Shakur Stevenson and Robson Conceição, which takes place next Friday (23). At a weigh-in held this Thursday (22), the North American failed to make the super-featherweight weight (up to 58,9kg.) and lost the world championship belts. World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO). As a result, the fight is worth the title only to the Brazilian.

Stevenson had a problem with the weight cut and, when he arrived at the measurements, visibly frustrated, he was down around 700g. above the established limit. The fighter, in a case similar to that of Charles of the Bronx in May of this year, he also lost the title. On social media, he reported that he can no longer compete in the division and will move up a category after facing Robson Conceição.

“I gave it my all. I've been a professional my entire career and made weight, but my body simply can't make 58,9 pounds anymore. My health comes first. I'm going up to 61,2kg. in my next fight,” explained Shakur on his official 'Twitter'.

Ready to wear the belt, Robson arrived smiling and arrived lighter, weighing 58,7kg. Olympic gold medalist in 2016, the Brazilian can make history and join the select list of boxing champions. A year ago, he lost to Oscar Valdez in a controversial points decision.
