Chimaev shows confidence, compares himself to Tyson and Ali and makes bold projections for his future in the UFC

Swede details his desire to become an MMA 'icon' and says it's a matter of time before he becomes the organization's champion

Khamzat Shimaev He is a standout at welterweight (up to 77kg), but he believes he can go further in the UFC. The Swede, who is close to fighting for the category's belt, showed confidence by making comparisons with boxing legends, Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali, and says it is a matter of time to wear the title in the organization.

“If there is anyone who will still become champion, it will be me. Muhammad Ali became Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson it became Mike Tyson and I will be Khamzat Shimaev, there will be no difference”, stated Chimaev in a video on the YouTube channel 'blockasset'.

Surrounded by expectations for his promising start to his career, Khamzat had a controversial moment in the UFC 279. The fighter was above the established limit by 3,5kg. for the fight against Nate diaz and, after negotiations, faced Kevin holland on the show. He managed to submit with a hand triangle, still in the first round, without being touched in the clash against the North American.

Undefeated in his career, Chimaev has 12 victories in his career in professional MMA. The Swede now has six knockouts, four submissions and only one fight being decided by the judges' decision, in front of Gilbert Durinho, in April this year.
