The announcement that Georges St Pierre would step away from fighting for an indefinite period and give up his title, he did not leave John hendricks bothered.

In November, the North American came close to dethroning the Canadian, who had been the welterweight champion for five years. However, in a close judge's decision, he was defeated. Scheduled again to compete for the title, which is now vacant, Hendricks insisted that his ultimate goal is to be champion, regardless of which rival he will need to beat to win.

"I do not care about that. If I fight GSP again, I will fight him again. If you don't fight, I won't fight. My world doesn't revolve around him. It revolves around the belt”, declared Hendricks, in an interview with the MMA Hour program, on the North American website MMA Fighting.

“I want to have a target on my back. I want everyone to come after me. That's been my goal since I started fighting. I want everyone to say 'I want to beat this guy'. For some reason, I like that kind of pressure. The more you push me out of my comfort zone, the more I shine,” Hendricks added.

On March 15, 2014, Hendricks will have another chance to fight for the belt. He will face Robbie Lawler to decide who will occupy the list of UFC champions. “I'm very excited. Who wouldn't be? I found out that I'm going to fight a very tough opponent, in Dallas, which is my backyard. It will be a great fight and I can’t wait”, he celebrated.
