For UFC President Dana White, Edson Barboza did not win his fight against Danny Castillo at UFC on Fox 9, held this Saturday night (14) in Sacramento, United States.

The Brazilian was severely punished in the first round of the fight, but he reacted and got the better of the other two. In the judges' decision, two pointed to victory for Barboza (29 x 28), while the third saw a draw (28 x 28), characterizing a majority decision in favor of the Brazilian.

The score that resulted in a draw indicates that Barboza lost the first round by 10-8, winning the other two by 10-9. And this is precisely the score seen by White. The UFC president even believes that Barboza was closer to losing the fight on score than winning.

“If there was any round that was 10-8, it was that first round. That first round was closer to being a 10-7 than a 10-9”, said White, in a press conference after the event. “One judge got it right, but the other two got it wrong. It was a very easy fight to score. It was a draw.”

“He [Barboza] was almost knocked out in that first round. The only thing he did was pedal – and I think the hit connected. Even though it connected, it was a 10-8. If the pedal didn’t hit, he literally didn’t hit anything in that round,” continued the UFC boss.

As much as White disagreed with the result, the fight pleased the UFC leadership, being awarded “Fight of the Night” at the event.
