Dana White, president of the UFC, does not believe that the welterweight champion, Georges St Pierre, will retire from the sport in the near future. Since the Canadian's last fight, against John hendricks, in November, there was a lot of speculation about the fighter's next steps, who has already expressed his desire to step away from fighting for an indefinite period.

In an interview with the Canadian channel Sportsnet, White said that at no point did GSP talk about retirement. “It’s hard to say [what will happen]. Georges St Pierre You never told me you were thinking about retirement. The word 'retirement' never came out of his mouth”, revealed the manager, who, however, believes that the fighter should hang up his gloves if he thinks about the matter.

“Normally, when a guy thinks about retiring, he should do it. This is not the kind of sport where you think about it for a while. You’re either in, or you’re out”, said White. “But I don’t think he will retire. I know he wants some time off, which is a problem. He just missed more than a year because of knee surgery. We will see. I will talk to Georges this Thursday (12), when he will return from vacation”, he revealed.

This week, the Canadian newspaper Le Journal de Montreal reported that GSP will hold a press conference on Friday (13) to announce his future. White believes that this will not happen, as it is an advertising activity. “He will not make any announcements on Friday. This deal had been planned for months. He will go to the opening of a shopping mall, sign autographs and spend ten minutes with the press. I don’t think he won’t say anything in those ten minutes, but there is no announcement like people said there would be,” he opined.

Even though he criticized GSP after the fight against Hendricks, White made a point of clarifying his position in relation to the Canadian. “Without a doubt, I lost my patience at the last press conference. But who has said more positive things about GSP in the last 13 years than me? It is serious. If I had 475 GSPs, my life would be very easy. My days would be peaceful if everyone was GSP or acted like him”, he praised.
