Canadian Georges St Pierre took the MMA community by surprise when he announced, right after the victory over John hendricks at UFC 167, who thought about “taking a break” from his career. Weeks have passed since the champion's words in the octagon and no news has been released about GSP's intentions. Until this Tuesday (10). According to the daily “Le Journal de Montreal”, St. Pierre has scheduled a press conference for this Friday (13) to announce his plans for the future.
As the event will not be promoted by Ultimate, it is unlikely that St. Pierre will announce a rematch against John hendricks in the interview. Even so, if the Canadian declares that he will continue to fight, this hypothesis cannot be ruled out. However, the great expectation is for the announcement of a hiatus or even the end of the welterweight champion's career, as he himself had already said in an interview with Joe Rogan, official Ultimate commentator.
At 32 years of age, Georges St Pierre has a record of 25 wins and just two defeats. The Canadian holds several records in Ultimate, including the highest number of victories among all athletes in the organization (19) and longest time fighting in the octagon (5h28m12s). After the victory over John hendricks and the statements about a possible retirement or even retirement of the champion, had countless speculations involving the fighter's personal and professional life to justify his words. None of the information, however, was confirmed by St. Pierre, who has remained away from the media since UFC 167.
