It seems that a new rivalry between Brazilians is about to emerge. Former challenger for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg.), Thiago Marreta detonated the attitudes of Paulo borrachinha during a weight cut and even proposed a fight in the UFC 283, event held on January 21st, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
“There was a situation with (Paulo) Borrachinha, in which I was cutting weight and he and his team came in and started jumping into the cold bathtub, which was next to the hot one I was in, having a party. They didn’t respect my moment there (…), it’s a dog’s ass. He even said that I'm catching everyone. Since it's like this, why doesn't he take advantage and come and hit me too? There's UFC Rio de Janeiro”, said Marreta, in an interview with the podcast 'Nem Me Viu', led by Fabricio Werdum.

The moment was revealed during the segment 'Ours or our dogs', in which Werdum questions the guests about their opinions on certain personalities in MMA. Marreta, however, admits that he does not know whether the comments about his current situation, attributed to Borrachinha, came from a fake account that would have posed as the Minas Gerais native.
Pressured with two defeats, Thiago did not declare whether he would be willing to return to middleweight (up to 83,9kg) for a possible fight against Borrachinha – who declared his focus on continuing in the category. The UFC's return to Rio de Janeiro does not yet have any fights announced.
