Fighter Shane del Rosario remains hospitalized in a very serious condition at Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital, in Newport Beach, California (United States).
On Tuesday (26), the UFC heavyweight was rushed to the hospital after suffering a complete cardiac arrest. After several attempts to revive him, Del Rosario recovered his heart activity, but still has no brain activity. This constitutes a situation considered practically irreversible by doctors.
Still, despite the information widely disseminated this Thursday (28) about the fighter's death, Del Rosario remains alive in the hospital, with his vital signs being supported by equipment. In an interview with the North American website MMA Fighting, Del Rosario's manager, Jason House, stated that the family is still waiting for a miracle.
“Shane continues to cling to hospital life. After arriving at the emergency room in full cardiac arrest, he was resuscitated at a stable blood pressure rate, but did not regain consciousness,” the businessman explained.
According to House, doctors are already beginning to uncover the causes of what happened. “They believe that Del Rosario may suffer from a rare disease called Long QT Syndrome, which is a genetic abnormality that can cause a sudden and dangerous abnormality in the heart rhythm. This can result in sudden death. Tragically, it attacks young people and there is a first and only demonstration of a problem,” he detailed.
