Opponent of Charles of the Bronx in the confrontation for the vacant UFC lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg), Islam makhachev continues with a provocative stance to address the Brazilian star. In his latest jab, the Russian took Daniel Cormier to laughter as he mocked the fact that the São Paulo native didn't speak English. The statement was made in an interview with 'ESPN'.

“No one understands this guy. He does not speak English. English is important if you want to make money. You need to speak a language that everyone understands,” Makhachev said, causing interviewer and personal friend Cormier to laugh.

On October 22, Makhachev will step into the octagon for the biggest challenge of his professional MMA career. Considered by many as the successor to Khabib Nurmagomedov, the Russian won the right to compete for the title after recording 10 consecutive victories.

New lightweight sensation, Do Bronx hopes to regain the belt controversially lost on the eve of the UFC 274. At the time, the Brazilian had his title stripped after failing the official weigh-in. After massacring Justin gaethje and overcome the personal drama, the São Paulo native secured the chance to play for the division's vacant throne.
