Former strawweight champion (up to 52,1kg.), Rose namajunas has been analyzing the possibilities for his future in MMA. Asked about the subject, the North American considers moving up a category, to the fly (up to 56,7kg), with an eye on a chance to face her 'friend' Valentina Shevchenko by the belt.

“I love Valentina. In my opinion, and I always forget that Amanda nunes is the female GOAT of MMA. But Valentina, if she continues like this, could make that case (for her) too. I consider myself friends with Valentina, so for me to do this, we would have to come up with a very good reason. She is incredible in every way, and I felt what she feels in practice. I know a fight is a totally different thing, so that would be hard for me to say. Obviously, as a martial artist, that would definitely be very interesting,” Namajunas said in an interview with 'MMA fighting'.

Despite declaring that she likes Valentina, Namajunas makes a point of highlighting that her personal relationship with the champion would not affect a possible confrontation in the future. She also highlighted that she remained friends with athletes she has faced in the past and, therefore, it would not be a problem.

“Yes, I don’t know yet. It would have to be (very profitable). I love Valentina. I consider her my friend. I've never had a problem being cordial with the people I'm going to fight with. I've maintained friendships with people I've fought, but I've never had a problem fighting a teammate or anything like that. I started to think a little differently about fighting at this point in my life,” she concluded.
