The fighting world woke up in shock with the murder of multi-time world champion Leandro Lo in the early hours of this Sunday (07). The black belt was shot in the head at a party in the South Zone of São Paulo. According to the police report, the shots were fired by military police officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo. Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo is 1st Lieutenant at the Barro Branco Military Police Academy (APMBB). On his Linkedin profile – deleted this Sunday morning – the PM says he has 'knowledge in the area of ​​Police Intelligence and specialized in the Military Police Intelligence Center (CIPM), acting as head of the Intelligence Agency in the territorial Battalion of the North Zone of São Paulo'. The officer also claims to be a 'behavioral analyst'

Velozo also describes himself as a 'specialist in self-defense' and as 'a teacher at the Military Police Training Schools, acting as a Trainer and Personal Fight at the same time'. On his Instagram account – also deleted –, with more than 32 thousand followers, Henrique showed his jiu-jitsu training. In one of the photos, the PM receives his purple belt graduation.

Academic degree

In addition to a high position in the São Paulo military police, Henrique Velozo also has two university degrees. Also according to Linkedin, he claims to have a 'graduate degree in Law with two specializations in Legal Sciences from Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul and a postgraduate degree from INSPER, the Teaching and Research Institute'. On his Instagram account, the PM describes his training as a 'physical educator'.

What happened?

The police report reports that Henrique started the fight by going to Lo's table at a party inside Clube Sírio, in the South Zone of São Paulo. The soldier allegedly grabbed a bottle and the fighter, in response, immolated it on the ground. After Leandro released the PM, the attacker pulled out a gun and shot the victim once in the head. As the witnesses report, police officer Henrique, after a brief discussion, went to the victim Leandro's table, taking a bottle from the table, immediately the victim stood up, took the bottle from the author's hand and, in a fight, the victim knocked down and immobilized. At this point, the victim's colleagues separated the two and asked “to leave it alone”. The author, after getting up, walked around the table and, facing the victim, drew his gun and fired a shot, which hit the victim's frontal region of the head (forehead, left side). The victim is in a very serious condition at the Dr. Arthur Ribeiro de Saboya Municipal Hospital.”

Leandro Lo Pereira do Nascimento, 33 years old, is a jiu-jitsu legend. The black belt in the sport was an eight-time jiu-jitsu world champion. He also won five World Cups and eight Pan-Americans.
