After Deiveson Figueiredo, another big name in the UFC has just broken ties with businessman Wallid Ismail. According to 'PVT', the relationship between the two companions had already been strained since Borrachinha's fight against Marvin vettori, in October 2011. At the time, the duel would be valid in the middleweight division, however, the Brazilian was unable to make his weight cut correctly, which forced the businessman to renegotiate the terms of the fight against the Italian for the light heavyweight category (up to 93kg), with just over 24 hours left until the show. Wallid also criticized Paulo later, for finding his then pupil's complaints and criticism of Dana White and the UFC unfair.

Sixth placed in the middleweight rankings, Borrachinha is going through a delicate moment in the company, with two consecutive defeats and with only one fight remaining on his current contract. In his likely last duel in the organization, the fighter from Minas Gerais will face the North American Luke Rockhold No. UFC 278, scheduled for August 20th. The Brazilian athlete has a record of 13 triumphs and two setbacks in the sport.
