When congratulating Colby covington for having recently won US$50 thousand (approximately R$263 thousand at current exchange rates) in a poker tournament, Daniel Cormier stated that the welterweight is still dealing with “serious injuries” resulting from his rival’s aggression.

Once best friends, Colby covington e Jorge masvidal became rivals and enemies after 'Chaos' left American Top Team. In early March, the two had the chance to resolve their differences in the main fight of the UFC 272, dominated and won by Covington in a unanimous decision by the judges. Weeks after the confrontation, Masvidal attacked Covington outside a restaurant in Miami, causing serious injuries to his rival. The case remains in court.
