In a chat with journalists at 'half day' for the event, Pantoja declared that he is confident of his title credentials, if he overcomes Perez. He still took advantage of the opportunity and doubted the lineal champion's comeback, Deiveson Figueiredo, still in 2022.

“I think it's a good opportunity for me and Alex (Perez) now. The title is there and the champion, Deiveson (Figueiredo), is on vacation all the time now. He looks big and might not be back this year. I believe everything is ok now. Whoever wins will fight for the title. I think he’s thinking the same thing,” Pantoja said.
Asked about a possible chance as a 'reserve fighter' for Brandon Moreno e Kai Kara France, athletes competing for the category's interim belt in the same event, Alexandre expressed disbelief in a failure to cut weight and said he was only focused on his performance.
“I don’t believe it will appear. Both fighters are great professionals and have never failed at weight. There is a huge opportunity for all divisions. All categories look at this fight, you know? Flyweight is on fire. We have big names and the fighters are proving how good the category is. I'm not thinking about the title fight on Saturday. I’m just here to (face Alex) Perez”, concluded the fighter.
Third place in the flyweight rankings, Alexandre pantoja has been in the UFC since 2017 and has won two consecutive victories in the organization, the last being a second-round submission over Brandon royval, in August last year.
