An old saying says that when you say what you want, you hear what you don't want. The sentence is even more true when the target of criticism is UFC president Dana White. Upon learning of the light heavyweight champion's statements Jon Jones Regarding the low level of challenges for his divisional opponents, White did not hesitate to respond in kind.

“Jon, I love you, but you’re not matchmakers (responsible for matching the fights). Fight your fights, he (Gustafsson) will fight his, don't worry about that”, said the director, citing the champion's main challenger and his most recent opponent. This is because Jones criticized the choice of Jimy Manuwa as the Swede's next opponent.

Despite rebutting the current leader of the UFC pound-for-pound rankings in a more relaxed tone, White didn't miss the chance to needle him and once again suggested that Jones take more care of himself. “That makes you sound like you're worried about it. When you say it like that, it sounds like it worries you,” he concluded.
