The 'bitter victory' of Yair Rodriguez No. UFC Long Island, held this Saturday (16), caused a real anticlimax among the event's spectators. After seeing his triumph determined by a shoulder injury to Brian ortega, the Mexican regretted his rival's injury and offered the North American the opportunity for a revenge. The statement was made in the octagon, moments after the official announcement.
“It was an even fight. I was trying to cause harm. It's a shame he dislocated his shoulder. I already told him: we can face each other again. Whatever the UFC decides, I'm happy with it. (…) I wanted to win, not the way it was. All my respect to him and his family,” Rodriguez said into the microphone.

There was a lot of expectation for the confrontation between Yair and Ortega. Highlights of the division, the winner could earn the chance to challenge the featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovsky.
With the victory, Rodriguez recovers from the stumble suffered against Max Holloway, in 2021. Brian, in turn, loses his second in a row.
