Former UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg), Miesha Tate He went down to the bare bones (down to 56,7kg) with an eye on a possible new chance for the belt. However, the 'Cupcakes' ended up defeated by points against Lauren Murphy at the opening of the UFC Long Islang main card, held at the UBS Arena, in New York (USA). She was the favorite, but was defeated and with a 'snooker ball' in the face (see below) in the duel.
The fight
Miesha attempted a takedown, but was hit by Murphy, who frequently entered the range of action. Lauren also had good times for knees and landed the best shots at close range. 'Cupcake', on the other hand, seemed slower than normal, but managed, with falls, to balance the shares.

The second round was marked by Lauren's advantage. Tate connected with good jabs, but was bothered by a nose bleed. Murphy then got a takedown and worked essential strikes on top, via punches and elbows. Miesha still tried, but was unable to reverse the result.
In the last round, Miesha was no longer able to maintain the same level and was affected by a very bruised face. The North American still tried to survive and was already affected in her game rhythm. She lost another round and was outperformed by the judges.
