Kamaru Usman details 'tense atmosphere' and reveals he was uncomfortable meeting Charles do Bronx

Nigerian reports tense meeting with Brazilian backstage at UFC 274 and reveals relief at not having the same with Israel Adesanya

Big names in MMA today, Kamaru Usman e Charles of the Bronx They experience an atmosphere of tension when they meet. At least that's what the welterweight champion (up to 77kg) says, who said he greeted the Brazilian backstage at the UFC 274, when the former lightweight belt holder (up to 70,3kg.) submitted his friend, Justin gaethje, still in the first round.

In an interview with 'ESPN' American, Usman says he feels uncomfortable with Do Bronx's presence and reveals relief at not feeling the same with Israel adesanya, who also represents Nigeria.

“It's really nice to be around a guy and not worry about staring or analyzing, you know? It's how I feel. But when I meet guys like (Charles) from the Bronx, that's how I experience it, with a little bit of that heat. It's an uncomfortable feeling. But also, you keep an alert. And it’s refreshing not to do the same when I’m (Israel) Adesanya,” Kamaru said.

A standout in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg), Charles has already declared his desire to compete in the welterweight division (up to 77kg) in the future, precisely where Usman has reigned since March 2019. Having a good relationship with Adesanya, the Nigerian reveals his desire to expand his legacy and is considering moving up two categories for fights in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg) of Ultimate, just to avoid a confrontation against his compatriot.
