“'Jan is the biggest challenge for me' – his own words. I respect you, champion, but the samurai code was not upheld,” wrote Blachowicz.

The quotation marks used by Jan Blachowicz refer to an interview given by Jiri Prochazka right after the victory over Glover Teixeira No. UFC 275. At the time, the Czech identified the Pole as the greatest danger to his reign, but did not promise the position of first challenger.

Jan Blachowicz was light heavyweight champion between September 2020, when he defeated Dominick reyes for the vacant title, until October 2021, when he was dethroned by Glover Teixeira. The Pole's reign included a defense of his belt, in a duel against the middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) Israel adesanya.

Jiri Prochazka became UFC champion by finishing Glover Teixeira in the final seconds of his third fight in the organization, in June. The Czech is undefeated in 13 fights, since December 2015.
