“Health update: I just saw my doctor regarding my two MRI results yesterday and the good news is that no surgeries will be needed at either location. I simply need a little more time to heal, 'PRP' injections (already scheduled) and some physiotherapy and I should be back to 100% to start a new camp and fight before this year is over. I have a very tough fight and a new camp ahead of me. I'm looking forward to giving it my all. In the meantime, stay tuned for some modified training. Thank you to the UFC for being on top and ensuring I get back to 100%,” wrote the champion.
At 34 years old, Esparza regained the strawweight belt in UFC 274, which took place last May, with a split decision victory over Rose namajunas, in a duel that didn't leave good memories for MMA fans. The North American has a record of 19 triumphs and six setbacks as a professional.
