New light heavyweight champion, Jiri Prochazka promises long reign in the division

After dethroning Glover Teixeira, the Czech fighter cited his difference from the last champions in the category and promised not to settle for the belt

New light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg), Jiri Prochazka plans to have a long reign in the division. In an interview with the channel 'The Schmo', the Czech stated that he will not settle down and that he will continue to seek constant evolution of his game and mentioned what he believes is different from the last two belt holders in the category, Glover Teixeira e Jan Blachowicz.

“It’s because I’m different from Glover and Blachowicz. Because I'm evolving all the time. After every fight, I'm looking for my bad habits, my mistakes in the fight. And I'm making these things my strong side. I’m going to work hard on these bad habits from the last fight,” said Prochazka.

With a meteoric rise in Ultimate, Jiri was hired by the organization in 2020 and reached the title fight after achieving two spectacular knockouts, over Volkan oezdemir e Dominick reyes, respectively. The peak of his career came in UFC 275, held on June 11th. The Czech submitted the then champion Glover Teixeira in a historic turnaround in the last 30 seconds and established himself as the new owner of the belt in the under-93kg division. 'Denisa' has an MMA record of 29 wins, three setbacks and one draw.
