Keeping an eye on who his opponent will be in the UFC lightweight (up to 70,3kg) title fight, Charles of the Bronx did not hide what he thinks about Islam makhachev. In an interview with 'ESPN', the former champion recognized the talent of his pupil Khabib Nurmagomedov, but made considerations about the Russian, who could face him in his next challenge.
“I never ran from a fight. Is Islam a tough guy? Yes. He's on a great winning streak, but who did he fight against?” asked Do Bronx, in an excerpt published by 'Canal Encarada'.

The Brazilian also analyzed Makhachev's pragmatic style. In his last clashes, the Russian calmly passed his opponents, but his achievements did not impress the love of the Tupiniquim fans.
“I don’t care about his fighting style. What he does best, I do 10 times more. If he thinks that taking down everyone is the same thing as (fighting) me, he is mistaken,” he concluded.
After losing the lightweight belt for failing to make the weight cut in his commitment to the UFC 274, Do Bronx accredited himself as the first challenger to the vacant throne by finishing Justin gaethje. With the triumph against the North American, the Brazilian became the first confirmed to fight for the title, in an event that does not yet have a defined date.
