MMA veteran, Josh Emmett was an indigestible opponent for Calvin kattar in the main fight of ufc austin, held this Saturday (18). At 37 years old, the athlete went through ups and downs in 25 minutes of confrontation, but, after five rounds, he was declared the winner. The triumph came in a split decision from the judges.

With the result, Josh expands the good moment in the organization. The athlete must now take a place in the top 5 of the group and reach the mark of five positive results in a row.

Outperformed in the main fight, Kattar is expected to lose fourth place in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg) to this weekend's opponent. The athlete also temporarily moves away from his dream of a title fight.

In an interview still in the octagon, Emmett only has one word in mind: title. In a loud and clear tone, the veteran asked for a confrontation against the winner of the fight between the champion Alexander Volkanovsky e Max Holloway, who will face each other for the group's throne on July 2nd.

The fight

The confrontation began with Kattar taking the initiative with a series of jabs. Emmett saved his attacks and waited for the best moment to attack. With just over a minute left, the clash remained tense, with the athletes avoiding a fatal error. Halfway through the round, Calvin landed a clean right on the veteran's face, who didn't flinch. With just over two minutes left in the half, Josh threw a cross, but the attack stopped in his opponent's guard. In the final minute, Emmett attacked his opponent and attacked him with combinations, pressing the number four in the ranking against the bars, but there was no more time.

In the second round, Kattar tried to find the best distance. Josh attacked his opponent again with a cross and direct sequence. The advantage in the stand-up fight belonged to Emmett, who touched his opponent more. Calvin continued to find it difficult to find the best distance and launched attacks into the void. With just over a minute to go, Josh once again pressed Kattar against the bars and attacked him with a series of punches. In the final seconds, the athletes went into a frank fight and exchanged attacks in the center of the Octagon, but the timer ran to zero.

The third round started with Kattar throwing jabs, but Emmett responded with a right. Josh continued to control his opponent and had the best attacks. As in the previous stages, Calvin continued to have difficulty finding the distance. Halfway through the round, Emmett threw punches and tried to surprise his rival with a knockout. Even at a disadvantage in striking, Kattar continued to walk towards his opponent, but wasted blows. At short range, Josh hit his rival with a cross, which made his opponent wobble, but there was no more time.

In the fourth stage, the athletes exchanged attacks in the center of the octagon, at least in the opening seconds. In the middle of the round, the fight was balanced, with the protagonists scoring with jabs and straight shots. With two minutes remaining until the end of the stage, the combatants continued exchanging attacks. Near the final minute, Josh shook off a strike from Calvin, but the veteran continued walking towards his opponent. Nearing the end of the round, the combatants were rehearsing a frank exchange, however, the timer ran to zero.

The last round started with Kattar scoring with jabs. The number four in the ranking was loose against the veteran, who was trying to find his feet again in the battle. Calvin's jabs continued to land cleanly on Josh's face, which had obvious swelling on his face. Halfway through the round, Kattar surprised his rival with an upper, but Josh surprised him with his resistance. In the final minute, Emmett 'chased' his opponent around the Octagon. Kattar attacked at the right moments. The fight ended with the combatants measuring forces in the center of the Octagon.
