Even without confirmation, Dana White has not hidden that he has a special name in mind to face Nate diaz in the possible farewell of the 'bad boy' from the UFC. In an interview with 'TMZ Sports', the organization's leader admits thinking about a confrontation between the North American and Khamzat Shimaev, considered one of the biggest bets for the company’s future.
“It’s a possibility, a fun fight. Khamzat is the current number three in the world (at welterweight). He and Diaz would make for an exciting matchup. Let’s see how things play out,” White said.
The favorite of the North American fans, Nate does not hide his desire to fulfill the final confrontation of his contract with Ultimate. In recent weeks, the 'bad boy' went so far as to publicly criticize the organization for its indecision regarding its next challenge.
On the other hand, White's speech is at odds with Chimaev's desire. Last Thursday (9), the Swede reached a verbal agreement to face Belal Muhammad | in October, in Abu Dhabi.
Current number three in the welterweight rankings, Khamzat is undefeated in his MMA career, with 11 consecutive victories. Diaz, in turn, is not going through a great phase. The North American accumulates two consecutive stumbles and has not won since the meeting with Anthony Pettisin August 2019.
