the fight between Jon Jones e Glover Teixeira had been announced as the main attraction of UFC 169, an event that takes place on February 1st, in the traditional show that precedes the Super Bowl in the United States. However, UFC president Dana White surprised everyone and revealed that the light heavyweight title fight will not take place on this date.
The leader said, in a telephone conference with the North American press, that the fight will not take place in February and there is still no official date for it to take place.
“It was never a done deal. (The fight) will be later. Our (public relations) people put it that way, but they shouldn't have done that”, declared the president
Despite postponing the fight for the light heavyweight belt, Dana White confirmed that Glover Teixeira will be the champion's next opponent Jon Jones. "It is closed. 100% closed,” she decreed.
