After stating that he would accept a possible confrontation against Michael chandler, Dustin poirier decided to spice up his newest rivalry in the UFC. Willing to undermine the ex-Bellator's pride, the 'Diamante' once again questioned the talent of the former challenger for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg), suggesting that the combatant would be defeated in an eventual fight against Conor McGregor.
“I think Conor is a dangerous fight for him (Michael). I'm not saying that Chandler is weak or anything like that, but he gets hurt in a lot of fights and guys like Conor know how to punch,” said Poirier, in an interview with 'THE FIGHT With Teddy Atlas'.

Dustin's attack wasn't limited to McGregor. The former interim lightweight champion recalled recent confrontations with Chandler to enhance his argument.
“You are hurt by Tony Ferguson and collapsed against Oliveira (Charles of the Bronx). Athletes like me and Conor, if they touch your chin, it will be terrible”, he concluded.
A standout in the under-70,3kg division, Poirier does not hide his desire to debut in the 2022 season. The North American seeks to recover from the defeat he suffered against Charles of the Bronx, at the end of 2021, when he ended up finishing in an attempt to take the group's belt from the Brazilian's hands.
