Rousimar-ToquinhoRousimar Toquinho He decided to take new paths in his career. After suffering two consecutive defeats in the middleweight division, the Minas Gerais fighter dropped down the welterweight division and changed teams. Since then, he left BTT and joined Team Nogueira and has been fighting a battle against the scale. On October 9th he will make his debut in the new category against the American Mike Pierce at UFC Fight Night 29, which takes place in Barueri (SP).

Following the example of our compatriot Demian Maia, who also moved from middleweight to welterweight, Toquinho shows confidence in his journey in the new weight category.

“I'm very confident, because I'm sure I made the right changes in my career. A few months ago I did a test here at Team Nogueira weighing 77kg and I felt really good. I sparred for five rounds and felt very strong and on top of my game”, he commented.

With just a week to go until the official weigh-in, the Minas Gerais native, who is from Dores do Indaiá (MG), didn't seem worried about the scale, even though he needed to cut around 9kg.

“The moment I'm living in is one of great happiness, I can't describe it. Despite all the difficulties of the diet and training, I'm seeing it as a great opportunity to show my worth. I'm 86kg at the moment, and everything is going as planned. On the day of the fight, I believe I will weigh around 90kg”, he concluded.
