Luke Rockhold is, in fact, out of patience with Paulo borrachinha. With agreement to UFC 277, which takes place on July 30, the North American accused the Brazilian of trying to reschedule the fight and made an ultimatum for the fight to take place on the initially scheduled date. He also states that he no longer wants to wait to face the former challenger for the middleweight belt (under 83,9kg).

“He is trying to postpone the fight again until August 20th and something is happening behind the scenes. The contract has been signed, but he is trying to change and make room for work details. We wanted it on July 2nd, but he had surgery. On the 30th, he is considering the second or third. Now they want it on August 20th. It's the last straw. The UFC wants it and I love the fight, but I'm not going to wait any longer. I will be ready and training to get better every day”, said Rockhold in an interview with 'Submission Radio'.
Former owner of the belt in the under-83,9kg division, Luke Rockhold has been away from the octagon for a long time. His last fight was in July 2019, when he was brutally knocked out by the Pole Jan Blachowicz. Coming from two consecutive defeats, the former champion has a record of 16 triumphs and five setbacks in the sport.
Former middleweight challenger, Paulo borrachinha comes from two consecutive defeats, the only ones in his career so far. Undefeated until then with 13 consecutive victories as a professional, the Brazilian athlete had his rise blocked when he tried to dethrone the champion Israel adesanya, in October 2020, and being knocked out in the second round. Just over a year later, the Minas Gerais native was defeated on points by the Italian Marvin vettori.
